Bingo.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Saddam Hussein wasn't prosecuted for gassing the Kurds. He was prosecuted for murdering 148 Shiite Muslims.

He killed thousands of Kurds with chemical weapons in the 80's, and as I understand it, this topic wasn't addressed in his trial.

Yes, the chemical weapons came from the western governments that supported his war against Iran, then turned a blind-eye to his use of them against the Kurds. In fact, I believe that Hussein-Rumsfeld handshake photo took place after he gassed the Kurds.

It was actually the opposite
He was killed because he killed the shiite revolutionist that wanted to bring him down.
The kurds has nothing to do with it
And why is that?
To increase religious divisions in the middle east between muslims. Kurds are sunnis just like saddam while shiites killing a sunni jst like the prosecuters made saddam a hero.

There are separate trials for separate crimes. He was found guilty of mass murder and crimes against humanity. As such he was sentenced to death and the sentence was carried out before any of the other trials (there would have been many) could take place.
