Only if you experience headaches, blurred vision or prolonged pain in the area of the bump would you need an MRI. I would highly recommend going to a doctor, he/she can do a few quick eye tests to see if you have suffered a concussion. Its better to be safe than sorry.

anytime you have sustained a head injury-you should seek medical attention. even though this happened a few days ago, you could have a slight injury that could worsen as time goes on if left untreated.

you could have a slight concussion, or a small hemmorhage (bleed in your brain) without having any major symptoms. bleeds that are left untreated can cause changes in icp (intra-cranial pressure) inside your brain and cause brain damage and in very severe cases-death.

and you don't always have to have a headache in order to get an mri. if the dr sees something on your ct scan or the ct scan doesn't show your brain clear enough-an mri will be ordered.

usually a head ct is always ordered on anyone who has received a head injury-it's the only way to rule out bleeds or pressure buildup inside the brain.

make an appt asap (within 24 hours) to see your dr. do not take any over the counter pain medicines such as tylenol, motrin, etc. these all thin your blood and if you have a bleed (even a slight one) it could make it worse.

report to the er or call 911 if :

-you develop a severe headache that won't go away
-you have sudden dizziness, faintness,or you pass out
-you have changes in your vision (blurriness, seeing spots)
-you begin to vomit

these are all signs that you have a serious head injury.

Important questions to ask yourself-
Did you have any loss of consciousness ? (Where you knocked out for any period of time?) If so, you should have definitely had it looked at as soon as it happened.
Are you having problems with headaches, nausea, blurred vision, or any other sort of difficulty, (like coordination or balance)?
These could be signs of a concussion, and should be checked out.
Since this happened a few days ago, your probably OK, but the general rule of thumb concerning head/brain injuries is that when in doubt, have it checked out.
Better safe than sorry, right?
