My whole induction was HORRIBLE, if I told you about it then it may scare you! SERIOUSLY, no joke.
All I can say to you is that, I had a bad experience and with that in mind.... I want more kids.
I have 1 son who is 11 months old and I cant wait to have more. Even if all the deliveries are just as bad, because once its over. You are left with that amazing little person and it is sooo worth it!

I was in labor for 65 hours which should not have happened but I had an inexprionced resident (she was the on call doctor at the hospital while my real one was off) who kept sending me home because I was not dialating as fast as she thought I should. I don't like needles so I went with no drugs to help with any of the pain. Yet once I got to 10cm dialeted I pushed for 4 contrations and my son was out and one more contration after him comeing out the afterbirth came out. Though you really don't registure that since you will be looking at the new child that you and your guy made and you carried for 9 months. I am pregnant for my second child at only 13 weeks so you know it can't be that bad (ohh don't get me wrong it sucks) that you will really remember the pain. Just enjoy the last little time you have to yourself because soon it will be all about baby. Congrates.

Labor is not as bad as people can make it seem. With my first one, I tripped over my dog in the driveway and caused my water to leak so my doctor induced me. I was in labor from 6pm until 410 am. The second one I started Thanksgiving day in the wee hours of the morning and this went on all day and on the day after Thanksgiving I went to the hospital and she was born at 109 pm. My last baby, my labor started around midnight and she was born the next day at 455 pm. As far as the afterbirth, that comes out about 30 minutes after the baby. It is not hard at all, just one or two pushes and it is out. Just relax and don't worry, the stress is not good for you or the baby.

Well I have had three homebirths with midwives in attendance. My last birth was 6 months ago. My labor started out as what one would call "period cramps", but they were regular. As soon as you start having these sensations, you should time them. Once they become regular, you can hop in a tub of warm water. If they stop, you aren't in labor yet. If they keep coming it's either time to call the midwife or your doctor to let them know you are in labor. From start to finish, my last birth took about 8 hours. It starts out subtle and ends with a bang! Labor hurts. Don't let anyone fool you. But once that baby comes out, you are in serious bliss. Usually the contraction that comes right after you deliver the baby, will deliver your placenta. In my labors, since I had my children at home, I was able to utilize my bath tub for difficult contractions and that was awesome. It really helps with the pain. I also used a birthing ball, and support from friends and family members around to lean on during contractions. My advice to you, is once you know you are in labor, just try to go with the flow of it. Don't resist. When I had my first child I resisted the pain and tried to escape from it, and it ended up taking me 30 hours total to deliver my daughter. They tell you not to push until the last minute, but in reality there is some bearing down you do when you get a contraction. This will help your cervix stretch and ripen.

well i was in labor for 17 hours. I was sick few days before i gave birth and couldn't hold anything down. so i went to my dr and he checked all my signs and my bp(blood pressure) was very high. they call it pre egclemcia. so i was admitted to my hospital 10 days early. I was in labor for 17 hours before i was told i am not dialating enough so i opted for the c-section. My c-section went perfectly with no complications. I went home 2 days later but could have stayed 3 if i wanted to.
Now to answer your afterbirth question. I was told that after the baby is out the nurses push down on your abdomin and it comes out with a push. I believe it could be imediately after the baby is born or with in 5 minutes of the baby coming out. Good luck !

Well, after I had my first child, they just kinda pulled the afterbirth out. I had to push, of course, but it wasn't too much longer after she was born. It was a great experience for me and I didn't have much pain at all.. thanks to the epidural. It really is different with everyone, so don't go into the hospital with any expectations at all. The nurse may explain everything to you when you first arrive. Good luck with this and congrats!

you sound scared.... i was afraid myself. It was just a little weird for me. I didnt have any pain or anything. When i was only 37 weeks i went in for my regular checkup only to find out that i was already 5cm. The doctors told me that i was going to get checked into the hospital where they induced me. my labor was nothing to me until one of the nurse decided to pop my water, that was when i felt all the pain in the world.... my labor just decided to stop all together, my baby became destress and i had to get an emergcy c- section. I didnt feel anything else after i was given epirdual. i just woke up to a wonderful heathly baby boy... my first time wasnt as bad as everyone was telling me.... i am hoping my second one wont be that bad also... anyways good luck....

well...... i went into labor on my due date, i had contractions every 5 minutes and they were lasting for about a minute and a half!! i went to the hospital after timeing them for an hour.i was in labor for 11 hours. well when the doctor came i was ready to push. only the babies heart rate keeped dropping so i had to wear an oxygen mask. the doc gave me some numbing medicine because he was going to cut me and before it had time to take affect the dr noticed the babies heart rate almost stopped. so he tald me "sorry but we cant wait for the medicine to kick in, were gonna have to cut you now!" and he cut me and oh did it hurt. i pushed 3 times and out came my beautiful baby girl!! i pushed about 2 more times and out came my placenta. i thought that part was gonna hurt, but i didnt even feel it! the doctor sewed me up and that was that!! i had my baby natural no medication!! and gurl, did it hurt!! i was proud of myself though cause i didnt scream or yell. it was all worth it. i cant remember exactley what it felt like but i do remember that it hurt....a lot! i cramped for about a week not to mention my downstairs area burned real bad but they give you medicine for that. i also couldnt walk for about a week. after its over you wont remember it! congratulations!! it wont as bad as a lot of people make it sound. just a piece of advice though, sleep now while you can!! lol!!
