Dawn of the Dead
I watched it at 2am when everyone else in the dark, creaky house was asleep. And after I had to use the bathroom. I thought I was going to die and be a zombie...

I'd have to say the first Final Destination. I've been watching scary movies since way before i should've been, but that's the first that i could say really scared me. I guess it's because it makes you think of things you don't want to think about. But after the first time i watched it, for weeks all i could think about was my own Mortality and that of those around me. And i couldn't even watch it again for years, but then once i took it to my ex's house to let him see "the scariest movie ever" and when he was bringing me home that night (an hour long drive in the dark), i was pretty much freaking out. I had this really creepy feeling like we were going to get into a crash and die,or something was going to happen to us or between us. Then about a week later, we broke up, so go figure. Anyway, on the creepy scale, it's definitely Final Destination.

Jaws. Forgetting the fact that the shark looks a bit fake to our eyes in some scenes these days, it is griping and has the sense of the real world that is key.
For straight or classic horror I would say the Exorcist or the Shining. I like the ones that get under your skin rather than the splatter movies. Gross is not scary, it's just gross. After the shock value is gone, what's left?
Alien was great for the suspense and the dinner scene was fantastic and truly stunning.

I saw a movie when I was young that I thought was soooo scary. It had Karen Black( who's kind of freaky looking herself)...and a little green man who chased her around her apartment with a knife. I remember she put it in the oven too. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the movie.

To this day I can't even hear the song "Jeepers, Creepers where'd ya get those eyes" Although the song has nothing to do with the movie, I am terrified to watch it (jeepers creepers) and forget about even getting near NO. 2.

The first version of "The Hitcher" with Rutger Hauer. Not the remake that just came out.

The Exorcist. The book was also the scariest I've ever read.
