Excel the last two years and ace the courses. Your application letter will explain your new found motivation and demonstrate why you would excel in the school of your choice. Get letters fromas many teachers as possible the last two years. Send all when applying.

ALso do extracurricular activities. Sports is good, service is better. Demonstrate what a leader you are. That is what such schools look for.

Also pick your direction in life. If law, start to look at summer law programs and internships. If biology, same. If Enginering, same...

Good luck.

BYW, I graduated High School with a 2.96 GPA, entered a decent college and graduated with honors. Now I have a leadership job in a Fortune 100 company. Harvard and Stamford are not everything. WIden your perspective.

Yes, please listen to Karri. You're not going to get into Stanford or Harvard, but that's actually just fine and not the end of the world. Your writing skills show that you still have a ways to go before you'd be proficient enough for those top schools. Given that you're struggling now, you'd be drowning in those schools. Keep in mind that Stanford and Harvard reject tons of applicants with 4.0's and outstanding test scores and those kids wonder what they did wrong.

The U.S. is full of fabulous colleges that offer outstanding educations - even starting with community colleges. It's great that you want to start challenging yourself. Keep working really hard this year, read more and play video games less, and next year, look into taking an honors or AP class. If you get at least a B in that class, take more college prep classes for your senior year. Also make sure you're involved in extra-curricular activities.

You'll get out of high school and college what you put into it. Please don't sweat it.

yeah, you're not gonna get in.

even if you manage to pull your grades up, the odds are completely against you (but who knows, hell may freeze over).

what you need to do is set your goals a little lower for the kind of college you're going to get into. why don't you try a nice state school? or a liberal arts college. you can also try attending a community college, getting straight A's, and then transfering to a prestigious university (this is actually relatively simple way of getting into a good school, but most people don't think of it or have this stupid all-or-nothing mentality about having to get into the 'right' school starting w/ freshmen year. total b.s.)

and down the road, no one's going to care where you went to college, what they'll care more about are your experience and professional accomplishments.
