If you want to make leather look REALLY old and cracked, soak it in a solution of Ammonia (1 C) to (1 gal) 120 degree water after all tooling (if desired) is completed. This solution liquefies the tanning liquors and leaves the leather hard. A little bit of gentle bending of the leather, followed by an application of neatsfoot oil, your favorite antiquing stain and *POOF* your brand new project looks like a well cared for antique!

Why would you want to do THAT? I have a cracked and worn leather jacket that I would love to restore to its original state. How would I do that?

I agree with elljay but here are some possibilities
1) put it in a clothes dryer with rocks. switch it on.
2) leave it on a busy road for a day.
3) swap it with someone who has an old looking one (like elljay)
about point 1) I do not know if the dryer will like it
