Why did they change from West Coast Customs to GAS in Pimp My Ride? I'd also like to know how long they keep the cars for. How much of the parts with the car owners is staged? Surely they must know they are coming - they aren't going to take XZibit all the way to the house without knowing if the owner is there or not. They show lots of footage of the car before the work is done for the before and after shots at the end so I am a bit dubious that is such a surprise to see XZibit on the doorstep!

West Coast Custom is suppose to do thier own show with Pilgram Films (Creaters of American Chopper, Dirty Jobs, American Hotride and Ect). West Coast Custom wanted to show thier true talent in custom cars. They wanted show what they accually do (not the made for tv customizing) The cars are theirs to keep. The owner really dont know Xhibit is coming they do an interview with the owner and tell them they may be picked. They are at home because, producers may tell them to be their for some bogus reason and then Xhibit shows up. The footage is all taken then edited.

Because Gas did a better job and because of pimp my rides new motto brand new garage same old c****y cars if west coast customs was still here then the motto wouldnt be here

I think that a short list is made so they tell them that they are one of five for example and to ensure they are in as they might be the "chosen one". As for the footage maybe they have to submit video footage for their application??? Dont know why they changed garages.
