I think people misjudge others because the are so used to pre-judging, and don't take the time to get to know who is inside the exterior. We all misjudge others when we choose not to love others as we love ourselves, (love=accept and treat others equally) notice it starts with loving self--when we do we don't need to be validated by others and we don't need to put anyone down to make ourselves feel better.

Prejudice is, as the name implies, the process of "pre-judging" something. That being said there are some religious implications that follow along the same lines. "Do not judge, lest ye be judged yourself."
It is our human nature to make initial observations and continually change them as new clues are discovered. It would be a horrific mistake if we all just held on to that inititial judgement. Kinda like the Earth being flat or all the planets revolving around the Earth. When we encounter an animal like an unfamilar dog we distrust till we learn otherwise.
Any one who outwardly misjudges after some point is either really misinformed or lacks social skills (is a jerk).

First impressions count a lot. In a typical job interview, the first 15 seconds can decide whether the candidate gets the job. Is this fair? No, but it's a fact of life.
Cleanliness, grooming and style tell alot about how much you value yourself. If you don't make the effort, why should they?

Unfortunately, people tend to make snap judgments without taking the time to get to know a person. It's the American way of life. Being comfortable with yourself and confident in yourself, no matter what's your style of dress or how pretty or unpretty you think you are, will attract quality people.

Because they see the true hideousness of the human creature. Filthy animals we are. We are spawns of slime.

They tend to think I'm dense. I'm disabled and can't work. They assume I'm uneducated.
