What in h does that mean? That we're A OK if we don't have sex? How stupid is that? Does it really change the world if they can see into our bedrooms or not? That to me is like saying "well I don't mind black or yellow people as long as I don't have to see them". I think it's ludicrous. You?

I agree. Archbishop Tutu said that requiring from gays never to have sex is like requiring a bird not to fly.

What they are doing is acknowledging that not all humans are heterosexual -- that some, in fact, are homosexual in orientation (and in reality, some are bisexual too). Still, they see homosexual activity as culturally or religiously unacceptable, so it is best for the gay, lesbian, or bi person to set aside his or her urges and live a celibate life or, in the case of a bi person, live a celibate or married life with someone of the opposite sex. (Basically, I think this is what Pope John Paul II was getting at. The man was not stupid. He knew that not everyone was straight, but he had to find an response that would agree with his own core value system -- and by the way, he was straight.)

I look at it this way: It is a step in the right direction. There are ultra-conservatives out there who are very ignorant and still seem to think that homosexuality or bisexuality can be "cured" and that they are really immoral behaviors, period, not normally occuring aspects of human development.

While Ashleys statement is true with regards to your query Da ben dan-if you could remove the equation that is most troubling to many people with regards to the anal acts,I dont believe you'd hear near as much.
They the world can and does see into your bedrooms through the outlandish B.S. of the overly open brandishing all their gear, and ideas for all the world to see at the big parades.- this perhaps also is part of the equation that wouldnt hurt to be removed.

This lets people be homophobic without having to feel like bad people, because they feel just so sympathetic to the plight of us poor tortured homosexuals. People shouldn't be so mean to us! But they still hold all the same attitudes that encourage people to do ridiculous things. I don't think there is a race parallel to be made, but I do think the whole thing is utterly stupid.

Well, it's because the Bible doesn't oppose homosexuality; it just opposes homosexual sex, and only in like 2 chapters. However retarded that may be, Christians suck up every word of it and that's why they tell us they (some of them, at least) love us as people but oppose the "sin" of us having sex with our same gender.

I totally agree with you, and "God" and "dwali"......it's insulting and ridiculous. they don't oppose who I am...as long as I'm alone and miserable and never have anyone to love? is that what they want? sorry, God created me the way I am, and He loves us all....so how could I be a sinner if this is how He made me? I waited a long time to find the right person to love...and I won't let some close-minded, sexually repressed hypocrite tell me what I can and cannot do in private with another consenting adult.

Goes back to that crap of hate the sin but love the sinner.

Its a way for some people to think they are open minded but in fact they have just cracked a window

I agree. It's the same line of thought that gives us that the oft quoted "I don't hate homosexuals. I hate the sin" crap that drives me over the edge. To me, it's like saying I don't hate you, just everything about you. It's convoluted and insulting. I often think it's meant that way too.

Homosexuality is a STATE OF BEING - NOT A BEHAVIOUR, LET ALONE A SEX ACT.

There is no such thing as a 'gay sex act'. All sex acts are INTIMATE by nature (unless its' rape) and are not subject to sexuality, let alone homosexuality. Heterosexual women get anally penetrated, too, so how anyone could think that anal sex equals 'gay' sex is beyond me.

I know exactly what you mean.

*****LOVE is NOT concious of GENDER.
