I am taking centrum prenatal vitamins, i wouldnt take the dollar store ones because they may not be as asorbable as the other ones. If you get sick on them you can try taking just folic acid, it is cheaper and the most important part of the vitamins. It helps prevent spina bifida. Also I was really concerned about what foods i could and couldn't eat and as long as you watch your fish intake it should be fine. The rule of thumb is the bigger the fish the more mercury there is. My midwife said that as far as the other warnings if you feel confident about the handling of it, and the cooking of it, it should be fine. she also said that if you were to get anything from food, like food poisoning, it affects you 10 times more when you are pregnant. your body wants to protect the baby so it gets rid of it quicker which makes the symptoms worse. if you have any big concerns you should talk to your doctor.

Speak to your doctor about suppliments, usually women who are pregnant need iron, but be careful with that, too much is not good. I would say go to a health food store and see their prenatal vitamins.

Foods, eat healthy, like you should whether you are pregnant or not. No alcohol, medicines (over the counter) and limit sugar, fats, and caffiene. Get mild exercise too, walking is great, 20 minutes a day. Drink lots of pure water. Try to eat organic fruits and veggies. Limit red meat and only natural if you do eat it (no hormones,etc.).

get u some prenatal (sp?) vitamins.
i bought me some at the dollar store for like 2 bucks.
(im not pregnant, but for my hair)
just a suggestion on inexpensive ones.
eat lots of fruits and veggies and generally healthy stuff.
if u want to figure out a specific diet u should talk to ur doc.
maybe they can decide what vitamins and things u need the most.
and u could eat accordingly.

Your doc should give you prenatal vitamins, if not they can let you know what kind and where to get them.
My midwife told me to limit my intake of fish to once a month and to stay away from foods high in fat. She also told me to start drinking skim milk or 1% milk instead of whole milk, to drink lots of water and to stay away from soda. You should also limit your caffeine to 3 or less servings per day. Try to stay away from meats like hamburger, choose the leanest cuts of meat.
Peanut butter, cheese, cottage cheese, nuts and yogurt are very good sources of protein and fresh fruits and veggies are very good for you too.
