A computer is a device that accepts information (in the form of digitalized data) and manipulates it for some result based on a program or sequence of instructions on how the data is to be processed. Complex computers also include the means for storing data (including the program, which is also a form of data) for some necessary duration. A program may be invariable and built into the computer (and called logic circuitry as it is on microprocessors) or different programs may be provided to the computer (loaded into its storage and then started by an administrator or user). Today's computers have both kinds of programming.

A man-made machine that has made great technological advances in the last 20 years (as far a PC). It has an artificial brain so to speak and can perform many different tasks faster than most humans can. It is used for business, pleasure (gaming) and more now than ever communication, research by consumers and shopping too. I know I would be lost without my computer. I have had one since 1985 and still marvel at the endless uses of a Computer! Can't wait to see what the future is going to bring.
Sounds Corny, but it's true!

The previous answer is the short ans sweet version. You have computers all around you.

Some are "analog" types like clocks that have mechanical parts. Others are digital like the one you used to ask your question.

If you have a digital watch, you have a very small dedicated computer. It has "instructions" that tell it what to do in order to compute the time.

Your television probably has a small computer or two that are used for channel changing, picture formatting, and more.
