gmail chat question?

when someone is logged into gmail chat, there's a green icon next to their name. when someone goes idle, the icon turns orange. how much time goes by before it turns orange?

It's 15 minutes. Search for "idle" at the HELP link in the upper-right to see for yourself.

it is usually around 5 or 10 minutes. But you can set it yourself to say when people go idle by going into the settings and find it there.
