I went and bought a new YZ-250,and it was stolen in less than a week.Luckily it was insured,a bargain for 208 bucks a year.At any rate the first thing I would do is go to all the local shops, and post notices there that your bike was stolen.Do include all the info you have, serials of the engine and frame, photographs if possible. Most shops will be very helpful to you.If a thug stole it he probably wont be dumb enough to take it to the shop for anything, let alone to sell it.BUT the people the thug sells it to are a different story. At the shop I work at I check ALL serials, and have found a few,the last being a Cagiva dirt bike, against notices that guys like you post there. You are right about the cops being no help, after all (even though I know it sux first hand) a stolen bike is not at all that important to them when they have murders and rapes going on.The next step would be to post a notice in your local paper. The chances that the butthead that stole your bike lives somewhere else are VERY slim.Post a reward even, there is no honor among thieves, and one will rat on the other quick for a few bucks.Good luck to you my friend, again, I know how it feels to open the door to the shed and your "baby" is gone.
