Just use it. It's not that hard really (especially version 7), and if you do something to crash it, it will send a report to MS so they can make it more tamper proof.

Most Players will search your computer for all music (even sound waves), but you can choose which you wish it to search.

One point. Both Windows Media Player AND Realplayer (as another person mentioned to you) are Memory hogs and CPU Intensive programs. The other thing about Realplayer, it also loads many other programs that are not necessary, and many of them are to spy on what you download, play and get your music from. After all, AOL endorses Realplayer, and AOL is the King of hidden spyware.

Infraview and Winamp are a bit lighter, and do as much as the others.

Just use it... it is fairly simple to use so you should get the hang of it quickly.
