I know that if you are in the ghetto, moving out of it a lot of times isn't as easy as it seems. Changing your mentality is a different story. Picture yourself where you want to be then make it happen. It all starts and ends with you. It is hard, especially when your so called friends start bumpin their gums about how you think you are better than them and trash like that, but you have to keep your eye on the big picture, cause in the end, you are left with only you.

Change your friends and social circles. You'll find that once you are away from the constant reinforcement of your peers that you'll start dropping many aspects of the lfiestyle. This works for any lifestyle.
Expand your music listening range. In particuler drop Rap and Pop out of your listening choices. Try Metal, Country, Classical, New Age, Blues, etc.
Change how you dress. If you where Ghetto clothes you'll attract Ghetto attention. The people who'll approach you are people who identify with that culture. You don't have to dress like a 50s prep. Just drop anything that screams ghetto.

I don't understand.
Do you live in a ghetto? If so then save up so you can move out.
I don't really know what a ghetto lifestyle consists of.
Details?

If you don't like your lifestyle now, change it. I did, so I know you can. It takes perserverence and fortitude, but it can be done. What I did was move away from my living situation into a new one, not a real glitzy one, the YWCA then I contacted DVR (Vocational Rehabilitation) to go back to school while I was getting a small stipend from them to pay my room & board and not much else. Now, my lifestyle is what I want it to be.

I was brought up in the ghetto (I am white). I did not realize how bad it was until I became and adult. I went back to my old childhood neighborhood. I thought man this is bad. My mom raised us like we were middle class. We were taught to respect what we had, respect others, their property and their rights. Mom was so cool in-spite of how hard we had it. She is my inspiration!!! I am not proud of the ghetto life, just proud of my mom. She motivated us kids to do better and we did.

Get ahold of VocRehab. They can not only help you get back in school, they can help you with housing. A better education is the best way to change your lifestyle.
Vocational Rehabilitation is seperated by state, so you will need to do a search and then follow the links to your state. I hope this helps.

Whats your definition of ghetto? It's such a popular word nowadays that you're probably living in a two level house with heat/air and your own bathroom. Ohhh thats harsh!
But really, nothing should be stopping you from packing up and leaving. Get a job or two and a roommate (near a college is cheaper) and get an apartment and work for what you have.
Or...marry rich and don't complain.

you can take the girl out of the ghetto, not the ghetto out of the girl........be happy you have that cuz you have something all these other types don't and that is extreme street/people smarts.. if you are truely "ghetto" you know what i'm saying. learn new things, but don't forget where you came from.... be thankful for who you are..
