everytime i start the car it turns on with a loud deep rattling sound and when i acceletrate it gets louder and it sounds like crap. anybody know what it is? im pretty sure its the catylitics but if you know anything else tell me thanks.

If the vehicle still runs without any loss of power then it's not the converter. Have the drive belt tensioner & pulleys checked, including power steering pump pulley, a/c compressor & alternator pulleys.

If the engine still turn, its not a catalyst. Have you had any oil leaks from engine? Check around the engine, especially the camshatf area, is it an I-5 engine with OHV? If engine oil is good then check your power steering pump oil, Audi uses mineral steering oil for its system so if you need to refill, make sure it recommended for Audi. Last is check your water pump for adequate water, could be your water pump? Check your coolant level lately?

i have a 96 A4, its a piece of crap..non stop problems.. go trade it in...its prob the motor getting ready to fall out
