They do it to be popular.

That has happened to me twice. I listened to Snowpatrol years before that stupid Greys Anatomy show came out. And I listened to Franz Ferdinand way before "Do You Want To" came out. They just jump on the Bandwagon, but I truly like these bands.

I just hate how overplayed it gets. And I hate when people who just listen to whatever is popular start loving a band that you like. Those people wouldn't know a good song if it hit them in the face. They just listen to whatever will make them cool. Prime example - I started listening to Wolfmother a long time ago. I like them because they reminded me of old bands - Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, etc. Then there are a bunch of people listening to them now who probably don't even know what Led Zeppelin is. Blasphemy!

God, That sounds horrible. It hasn't happened to me but everybody at school like the music I HATE, and they don't like the music I LOVE. It's actually kinda frustating most of the time. I could probably mention Franz Ferdinand to a random person at school, they'll look at me like I'm Crazy.

So long as these bands don't sell out, I'm all for them trying to gain popularity. Primus was responsible for the South Park theme song, and they're still going at it like pro's.

I feel that way all the time. It sounds so stupid saying this, but it seemed like they were mine. When everyone starts liking "your" bands you lose the closeness you once had with these bands and you dispise the people that only like the band because everyone else likes them.

yeah. I know it's selfish and kinda stupid to want to keep a band to yourself, but I hate it when people become casual fans of a band I've liked a long time.

You know whats really uncool? All you guys thinking you own the rights over a band because you listened to them before they were cool. Eventually they get popular because thats clearly their goal and they want ppl to like them . Get over it, and get a bumber sticker that says " I listed to them before they were cool" so you can send a news flash to everyone how big of a loser you are.

i get that a lot too with my fav bands, but then i just get used to it. besides, it just makes it easier to find their music in stores. I remember when bands like AFI, Snow Patrol, Frou Frou, and the Postal Service were hardly known of.

It doesn't usually bother me except when people refer to them as that "new" band. Just because it's new to you doesn't mean that it's brand new.
