Mrs. Arial is correct. Something is causing this, like pressure, from school, from parents. If you break this habit she will just pick up another tic. Try to find out what is wrong? Is she getting enough sleep. Trouble in the family? Happy children do not usually get tics.

How old is she?
Have you tried making her wear band aids on her fingers for a prolonged amount of time to see if this would help 'break' that habit?
Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe she is suffering from some anxiety or disorder and there could be some type of medication that can be prescribed to help relieve her stress.

I know i do not have an solution to your problem but I had a lady friend who did this constantly and it drove me to the point I broke up with her as I could not take it! She was an adult with grown children and she had this terrible habit. So please get some help for her when she is young.

for nail biting, there is a nail polish that has a very bitter taste and is very very very disliking!
i suggest you put the polish on her skin, she'll understand the bad tastte.
another idea is to use vinegar.

The only reason I would know she does that is because the skin is coming off slightly because she doesn't wash her hands often enough.
