Hi Ashley -
Couple of things -- Venus Fly Traps are usually able to capture their own small insects - even though it is kinda' cool to see them spring in action. Some use a very, VERY diluted liquid fertilizer sprayed onto the leaves. But, one of the things with these plants is they do require somewhat of a dormancy period during this time of year - so, their own needs may not be to the plant itself (although, you, the owner wants to see it in action!)
Also -- always try to use distilled water when you water a Venus Fly trap. Most home gardeners kill them by using regular tap or softened water. Always used distilled only.
Check this out too -- interesting -- makes me want to go out and buy one again:

Good luck ...

You actually don't need to feed a Venus Fly Trap. If it's well-fertilized, it will be perfectly healthy with a nice non-carnivorous diet. In the wild, these plants tend to live in boggy conditions where nutrition isn't readily available, so they need the extra boost they get from flies, but in a container, you can take care of them with a bit of fertilizer just as you would any other green plant. Enjoy!

Well plants don't have a central nervous system, so I'd say you would just **** off some druggie for wasting their dope.

Leave some rotting meat outside . You'll find flies on it VERY soon .
Not only this , when they lay their eggs on it , you'll soon have a heathy supply of flies .
Hope this helps.
