Has the D.A. asked you to testify? Did they subpoena you? If so you have to. If not don't worry about it...

That's a moral question you will have to ask yourself. If you know he is guilty and choose not to testify and he gets off and commits another crime can you live with yourself knowing you may have had a chance to prevent the second crime? I would assume since the penalty is up to 25 years in prison that it could be a very serious crime. Although, unless you get a subpoena, you probably are not required to testify.

Wow, toughie....25 years is pretty extreme, obviously the crime was a doozy. You could be charged for withholding information if the police ever found out, but it's your conscience that you need to deal with...whatever choice you make will be with you always.
I am not sure what I would do if I were in your position, just follow your heart and Good Luck!
Ok, I retract my statement.........YOU NEED TO TESTIFY! THAT IS THE SICKEST THING EVER...HE NEEDS HELP....."REPEATED", CHRIST HOW CAN HE EVEN BE ENTICED BY AN INNOCENT CHILD....HE SHOULD BE STRUNG UP BY HIS BALLS AND HAVE THE DAMN THING BURNED OFF!!! FREAKIN SICKO!!!

I guess it depends on what he did. If my friend murdered someone, I would testify against him. If he just did something small and no one was hurt I would let the jury decide his fate. Being as he will go to prison for 25 years, he must have done something bad. It's up to you to decide.

If your talking murder or harm that was done to another person, I say yes you should. Really on any account, you should testify.
The person is going to possibly serve 25 years, so I'm assuming it is something bad. If you don't you will have to live with that forever.

With the additional info added (Repeated sexual abuse of a child) how could you NOT help the child? You might contact the prosecuting attorney & see what your options are. But I can't see someone allowing him NOT to go to prison.. knowing that it would probably mean he would continue sexually abusing a child. Trust your gut. He may thank you for saving him from doing what he's doing.

So long as you aren't afraid for your own safety (since he wouldn't be in jail for life) you should have no doubt that testifying is the way to go. It is moral. If you fear you should look into an option like the witness protection program.

yes. Why would you still consider him a friend? Screw the bast!rd. If it comes out later in trial or whatever you could have charges brought against you. Think about that one. Get yourself in trouble for a friend that did that to a child.

You should testify against him. That would be the right thing to do and you should have no shame in doing it.

it will be really hard. But your friend did something wrong...and you owe it to that kid to tell the court about it. How is the judge able to make a decision if he/she does not know everything about the case.
Your friend did something wrong...you should not feel bad for doing something right by coming forward with what you know.
Testify...you will LOATH yourself if you dont. Its the right thing to do.

the JERK **** deserves to spend every single minute left in his miserable life in a prison...preferably one where he must wear a jumpsuit that is PINK thus displaying him to be a child rapist...let the murderers get 30 min alone with him each week...
there is nothing lower on the human chain than a perverted child molester!
