If you haven't used tampons before it's possibly just your hymen that broke and is causing the bleeding. There shouldn't be much blood though. It could be your period coming early.
If the bleeding doesn't stop or gets heavier and it's not your period, nip down to the doctors so they can give you their opinion.
I know you might feel embarrassed about talking to a doctor about it but believe me they've heard/seen worse and they probably won't need to do an internal exam unless you're gushing blood.
Good luck, I wouldn't worry.

Edit: I just read some other people's responses - some people are just cruel and ill-informed - ignore all those assholes who just told you about AIDS and syphillis and stuff and especially that dick who said something about your "immature actions" or whatever it was.

First of all, the bleeding is quite normal. This is because when you have sex for the first time your hymen is broken. If you used protection, then you really do not need to worry too much about pregnancy and STD's. On the other hand, if you did not use protection, I would be worried about all of that because it can happen to anyone. I remember when I lost my virginity and this happened to me. I was a little freaked out about it, but I had done some research beforehand and was prepared for the bleeding to occur so I knew what was happening.

And I agree with the comment above. I do not understand why people have to make such remarks on here. You will be fine! :)

Don't pay attention to any of these people's rude and uneducated comments. Everyone loses their virginity eventually ... whether it was a mistake or not will be up to you to decide. It astounds me how cynical people are ... that they would automatically assume that you were irresponsible about your choices.

You have nothing to worry about as long as the bleeding doesn't become heavy or clotted ... the exception of course would be, unless you're expecting your period. The bleeding you are experiencing is probably from the breaking of your hymen and possibly some tissue rupture. Its not completely abnormal to experience a slight amount of bleeding anytime after you have sex. However, if you experience heavy bleeding, passing blood clots, or running a fever ... you ought to get checked out. Other than that, you should be good to go! You probably ought to refrain from having sex until the bleeding stops and ask your partner to take it easy until you get used to it.

It depends on how much you are bleeding. Is it spotting (little bits of blood - about the size of a dime)? Then you probably don't have anything to worry about. If there are things coming out of your vagina besides blood (skin cells, etc) you should go see a doctor ASAP. You should go see a doctor to get everything checked out and maybe get on some birth control though. You also might want to tell your partner to maybe go a little slower next time so you don't bleed so much though.

Well, your question begs other questions:

Did you use a condom or not?
Were you ovulating?
Were you expecting your period?

I guess your best bet is to seek medical help if the bleeding doesn't stop. Also, if it is not a huge amount of blood, you may want to wait and see if the bleeding isn't normal after you lost our virginity.

Probably not. But if the bleeding lasts for a long time, or becomes very heavy, it may be worth a trip to the doctor.

i don't think there is anything to worry about. sometimes when a women has sex for the firs time, her hymn can break and cause some slight bleeding. the hymn is a piece of skin over the entrance of the vagina to stop infections getting in.

nothing you should worry about. it's normal, the bleeding is just tiny amount, meaning it's only a drop of blood in your panty. if it is huge amount, then you have you consult your family doctor, other wise, there's nothing to worry about.

Congrats and take care.

If you are not married, then you should be concerned with the long range consequences of your foolish behavior.

There is always a little bit of tearing and bleeding when a young woman looses her virginity.

In some cultures, especially rural Sicily the wedding sheets are hung out the window as proof of the bride's virginity!

Let us hope you are a simply a naieve bride, and not a young girl who just made a horrible mistake.
