I did this for a friend who also felt that a women-only shower was more appropriate. The best way to do this is to address the invitation to the woman or women being invited, which should be a clear enough indication to the addressee that they are the only ones invited. However, in this day of lax manners, safeguard yourself by asking for RSVPs and calling those who don't contact you - this gives you a chance to alert people who didn't get the hint when they mention they're bringing extras that weren't expected. Most of the time those extras will be children or other women who weren't specifically mentioned on the invitation.
You can also make it easier for your guests to get the hint by wording the invitations themselves so they are clearly meant for a female audience (for example, if laid out in the form of a proclamation, the first line could read, "Calling ladies one and all!") Your shower theme, if you have one, could also be a source of good ideas, although if you are using store-bought invitations it will be harder to do.

It's common for a baby shower to include just women, I wouldn't think it rude for the invites to request women only.
Most men would be bored at a baby shower. Have your partner get together with all the men so they have something to do that day....fishing, golfing or to a sporting event. If you go with that, have a note on the invitations that say that there are plans for the men that day.

The invites should only be addressed to who is invited. If you want a women only shower then invite only women. If the women you invite show up with their husbands or boyfriends, then they need a lesson in etiquette. The name on the envelope should be enough. And make sure your mom and aunts know you want it that way.

In general baby showers are for women only but nowadays men are going. Usually if men go it is understood that is is a couples shower. Most men if it is not close family or close Friends are not keen on attending a party with frilly things and baby booties. Let the shower host know you want a traditional baby shower. Good luck and congrats!!!!

Just invite the women and make the invitations feminine. I'm sure men wont want to come anyways, baby showers are mostly just for women anyways.

I think most people assume that the baby shower is only for women but you can always put something on your invitation like you are invited to to a "Ladies Luncheon for so and so's baby shower"

I think to have men show up you would have to request that on the invitation, baby showers are normally for women only anyway

In Australia men don't attend baby showers so we put nothing on the invite. I didn't realize Americans invite men until I saw it on a parenting program.
Just put down the bottom in brackets (Women only).
It's nice simple and to the point.
Why would men want to go any away...they would be happy to be off the hook.
If you need any party ideas let me know.
Thanks

Most of them are like that. I am just having men/boys attend mine because the fathers sister is throwing the shower at her place 5 hours away, and I have only met her a handful of times because of the distance. I think most people know its more of a woman thing.
Its football season the guys are more than happy to sit at home in front of the tv anyways. lol
