Music tastes vary, so recommending bands could be futile. I will tell you that my gym plays techno, electronic, and dance music usually. It caters to a younger crowd--but there is always a fast beat going. There has been a scientific study (sorry i don't recall the name of it) that showed participants exercised and maintained a higher heart rate with music that had a consistent fast beat. I think a lot of gyms play this kind of music as a result. Hope this helps! Okay, I see you edited and want songs. On my mp3 player I have ATB -Everything is Wrong, Danzel-Pump it up, Faithless-God is a DJ (Yes he is), Kraftwerk-Autobahn, The Chemical Brothers-Delik and Otter Rock, and the list goes on. There is a good website called www.bestworkoutmusic.com that sorts music based on their beats--you can select your fave type of music and it matches your search. I use it for my mp3 player.

I know you said songs, but how about an entire album? (instead of a genre, as that is utterly unhelpful). I often listen to Bloodhound Gang's "One Fierce Beer Coaster." It's fast, has a good beat, funny, and, well, you know... they rock. [Insert satanic finger holding + headbanging fun]

I always loved running to CCR. And if you're into rock you'll know who that is.
I always used it for my stationary exercising as well. The driving beats are really motivational.

i like to go with Pop music, while normally i dont really listen to it, i feel it makes me go faster because of the beat. right now on my ipod i have things like brittany spears, ashley simpson and justin timberlake. i have a special folder on there so when i'm other places i dont have to listen to it. also i just put some nelly fertado on there. i like maneater and say it right. lol and eye of the tiger just hit me too.
