Boil it and carefully flush warm water through it. go to a head shop and buy something. Grundge off is popular here and it cleans it like magic in minutes without any trouble even in the hard to reach places.

Do you mean the incoming water or the out going (sewage) pipe?

I use like a cap of fingernail polish remover and a little dish soap. let it soak overnight:)
