This is often a problem with something someone outside on the Internet sent to your computer. Spyware/Adware/Worm. It is very rare that the problem would be with your dial up provider unless they have oversubscribed in your area. Then they kick you off if there are too many minutes without you typing on your keyboard. I used to have Verizon dial up and I called them because I got kicked off a lot as we have three universities in my neighborhood and they had too many users for their server. They finally put me on the Verizon employees server as I would not stop until they took positive action. Because they did this for me, I upgraded to DSL with them when it came to my street. Call you provider and find out what is going on and keep pushing and calling until they find a way to fix your problem. If it is because of too many users, DSL may be coming to your area soon. Good Luck

Sometimes it has to do with the speed of your connection : it could be the type of connection that your local telephone company is providing. Usually if you call your phone company they'll give you the jargon: "we only gurantee a voice quality line...because that's all their obligated to do, and will certainly tell you the benefits of DSL as opposed to dial-up, along with the guarentees...blah, blah, blah. Your neighborhood may have had someone get an additional line or several of them, or several neighbors get additional lines where the cables have been spliced, or there's been some type of modification at the central office that could have affected the data quality but not voice quality.

Next time you log on, look at the modem speed. If you have a 56k modem and you're connecting between 40-56kpms then all of this is a waste and maybe someone else has some better suggestion...but if you're in the 20's...voice quality line...

only thing you can do is call repairs and tell them about the difference. they may or may not help.

good luck

Sometimes when someone calls on a dial-up, it will kick you off because of a setting you have in your internet setting panel. Also another thing is if you leave your net idle for a certian amout of time it will die, both of these can be fixed in the internet settings of your control panel.

Bad isp service maybe. busy modems. Get DSL if you can afford it and do yourself a favor from a heart attack
