It could be due to many things, but first you have to consider what the nature of her relationships are with those male friends. Also consider what her background is like - does she come from a heavily male dominated family?

In general, people befriend others who are similar backgrounds and personalities. As such, your girlfriend's identification with male friends can have two purposes. The first, is that she herself has qualities that are more akin to a male-gender identity - maybe she doesn't like girls in her age group (perhaps too superficial?) - and feels more comfortable hanging out with males. It doesn't neccessarily have to be that she's a tom-boy... maybe the girls around her normally are just not her cup of tea. The second explanation is that the girl is flirty and just enjoys the male company because she has an opportunity to act out her attraction as a friendship. This is likely less probable though because women like this tend to also have a tightly knit group of female friends as well who they confide in.

That's my two cents on the issue.

I have a lot of male friends as well. I am very comfortable with the opposite sex as they are less complex in nature. I find it more fun hanging out with guys sometimes esp because there is no "silent" competition going on and you can just be yourself around them. It's a very liberating feeling. Being able to interact well with both sexes is a good thing. Your girlfriend is a well-rounded person in this sense :)

I have a lot of male friends, and my female friends have a lot of male friends as well. Personally, I find females generally a PITA ... pain in the a--. Gossip, fashion 24/7, "boy" problems, playing victim, and general cattiness. I don't have time for that BS.

My men friends have a wider world view that I enjoy and that matches my own, willing to take a risk and don't want to be "taken care of". They are more willing to be INTERdependent.

some girls just like the company of men more than women. I was a "tomboy" when growing up and always like to be around guys more than girls. my daughter is the same way and I feel kind of sad for her because I wish I had had more "girl friendships" but i just don't understand women or get along with them the way I do with men.
face it- men are less complicated!
as long as she is not having a sexual relationship and it is just plutonic- don't worry!

Depends on what she does with the male friends.
Some girls just get on better hanging out with the guys instead of girls.
Other than that, there are girls who like to have their choices open and have fun with as many guys as they can.
Why don't you ask her the question outright?

Are there like ten guy "friends "over there when you go over? In my experience it means she has a rep if you know what I mean.Or at least a lot of admirers!

I'm a guy and I have a lot of female friends. Not gay, not trying to screw them (well maybe 1), they are just my friends. Nothing mental about it.

She's just a tomboy. I am the same way. I can relate better to men, and they are more fun then girls. Don't read too much into it.
