I don't think is sad. Just another form of communication. I had my share of decent company today. This is a moment I spend "by myself" relaxing. I learn a lot of things through answers.

Wow, dude. Harsh. This from a guy who a) answered someone else's question, and b) pretty much just insulted them instead of actually providing any insight.
Honestly, in the "Philosophy" section, it's completely defeating the point when you answer a question about the morality of music with, "I don't think your questions can be any more generalized and diffuse. Try again." The question was intentionally open-ended and meant to start a string of interesting ideas.
How about this: spend maybe a little of your day on this site and have some new things to talk about to your friends and co-workers when you do see them. Expand your friends' minds. Or, I guess you could thumb your nose at communication technology and have the same conversation about books you read thirty years ago or the latest episode of "Lost." It's up to you.
And finally, Yahoo! Answers is not by any stretch of the imagination our "best option" (a statement which, by the way, could not be more generalized). It's merely another way to learn new things, to find answers to questions you might never think to ask, to get some opinions as well as facts from completely objective viewpoints.
Look, dude, you clearly have a severe personality disorder, or at the very least massive emotional problems. That's cool, I don't judge. But trust me -- as a stranger and therefore an objective observer -- from all I can discern about you through the faceless internet, I'd say you should probably make more of a personal effort to be less sad.

Dear friend,
I feel you should be a thoroughly disturbed person "internally" .. We have to empathise with you.
You should know that not all of our communications take place in flesh and blood. Not at all. The most serious and heart to heart communication takes place internally, between you and your inner self. It is virtually a "question and answer" all the time. Don`t you enjoy it?
In my opinion , this Yahoo Communication , with unknown minds ( instead of faces) is only an extension of your internal communication. You will feel free to express things that otherwise you will not express. .
If you have this opinion about Yahoo , what will you say about blogs? God help you.
Please enjoy this medium. Since you use the word 'god' inbetween let me ad that even with god many have similar faceless communication and they derive great satisfaction.

I agree with Cister.
Sometimes, the people around you don't know the answer. Or, there's no one to ask. Or, it's a question that requires answers from faceless strangers from around the world.
But it's true that some of the questions here are pretty anti-smart.

Good point, but there are really only a select few people on here that I would want to personally talk to and those select few may not necessarily have the best answer to my questions (or visa-versa). This allows me to get many various answers from various people in various walks of life. You do bring up a good point though.

I'm actually quite a social creature and spend most of my time around other people. I consider my nighttime computer moments a way to unwind and have a little alone time, yet here I am still chatting with people. And I would never think of reporting you darling...

Yo brother these freakin commie scum bags have had entire email accounts of mine deleted because I said something some fruit fairy did not like. But about your main point. Yea it is sad. I live alone and I feel pretty good about that. People are very phony to me. I have had better conversations with my dog Barney, Rest in Peace. My dog died and I cried.

How sad is it that thousands of people can ask questions and recieve answers from diverse cultures, thought patterns and perceptive realities? How sad is it that while there are always that group of idiots that ruin everything, most of this is peaceful, whereas face to face, this would be a maelstrom of opinion-fueled foolishness that has the potential to escalate into something extremely hateful and violent? How sad is it that people whos countries are at war can peacefully communicate and exchange cultural viewpoints?
How sad, my man, is it that someone thinks that this is "pathetic", ala your question?

YOU think it is sad & you are freely talking for all of us who are indulging in this activity.
I think YOU are feeling sad & relating to everybody from this sadness within you. Delve deeper & you'll find the root of it. Whatever we project outside we are feeling inside. You are using Y! answers as a scapegoat for your sadness. If that makes you feel better about yourself then go ahead. Just as long as you are clear that you speak for yourself only & not for the rest of us
Cheer Up ! :)
