There is no reason to. You may want to petition your local court. I suggest you hire an attorney. Or if you can not afford. Contact an organization about your legal rights.

Hi there

What you describe is quite common treatment in cases where there isn't a clear cut reason for your husbands death.
I know you say that your husband died by suicide, but you don't say how! or what the circumstances are. "Did he leave a note or some other form of evidence saying what his intention was and why". or his his death unexplained with suicide being the most likely cause?.
The police often keep victims remains in case there is anything untoward or unexplained found during the autopsy. The police are just doing their job!.. The coroner will sit to hear the evidence and decide the outcome, and give a verdict.. Until then id just chill out and try to move on with your life..

I am so sorry, Jayne. What a terrible thing and how sad and difficult it is going to be for you over Christmas in years to come! Meanwhile, you seem to find yourself in the same invidious position as the families of murder victims and it is very difficult to have any sense of closure, which is what you really need at the moment. As there is some pressure upon morgue space, the police must have some reason for hanging onto the body and it is probably a reason which they would not want to discuss with you, as horrible though it is to say it, if there is still a lurking doubt in their minds as to whether it was or was not suicide, then certain people will fall under suspicion. Presumably they have to conduct an autopsy and this will take a long time to arrange because there has been a dramatic drop in the number of registered forensic pathologists over recent years.
Meanwhile, you may find this link useful in considering what further steps to take. http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:wxon5yXxQRMJ:www.forensicmed.co.uk/legal_issues_2.htm+england+autopsy+release+of+body&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6

Are you in the US?
I know in some countries, the body can be held until the inquest is complete. I am so sorry for your loss, and I know this must be awful for you. The coroner and the local police have to be sure that there was no foul play before they release the body.
God bless you and your family, I hope that they will release his body soon so that you can have closure to this terrible time.

Usually once a coroner complete the autopsy and determines cause of death and he/she officially rules it as a suicide, there is no reason to keep the body. You may have to petition the court to release your husbands body.
I am very sorry for your loss. That has to be horrible for you to deal with. You have my condolences.

this is a complicated question... in case you remarry instantly, evidently like you've been no longer fairly connected to them. yet legally you are able to remarry once you've a replica of the death certificate. yet do you fairly favor to offend those who cared about your husband? i'm sympathetic on your difficulty... yet you should also ask your self, did their death fairly impression you and also you only won't be able to see the impression yet... for this reason will you fairly be able to make the right decision on a sparkling substantial different so quickly, or will it fairly teach to be a rebound disaster? in case you loved your substantial different, or maybe were only pals with them, or cared about them in any respect, i'd advise you wait a minimum of a year in which time you'll get to entice close your next capacity substantial different... in case you realize them and characteristic dealt with them in courting difficulty for a year, jointly with a brother in regulation, then you honestly would nicely be earlier than the game... notwithstanding it truly is critical to that you recognize the way both of you deal jointly even as it is composed of issues and in case you cant artwork those situations out b4 marriage, you wont be able to after marriage with out counseling. those females answering right here fairly love their husbands and are fairly warmth hearted, they do only not favor you to be sure how a lot they care they only favor to seem chilly hearted and unemotional about deceased husband situations. WOW! wish I under no circumstances connect with any of those females.

That's so sad, but they have to exclude foul play and may even think you may have had something to do with it. They cannot afford to be nicey nice.
It's their job.
They cannot afford to get personally involved, so they have to be impersonal.
Seek advice. CAB?

They must do a thorough investigation. It's not because they are out to make your life difficult.
