Buggati Factory in Molsheim
On Saturday, 3 September 2005, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. hosted opening festivities for the ‘Atelier’ in Molsheim, its new plant dedicated to production of the new Bugatti. At the same time, the company’s headquarters, the Château St. Jean, along with the neighboring buildings, were officially opened for their intended purpose.

Rumors of a prototype already seen in the US. Not confirmed.

How did they build an aerodynamic car capable of 450 Km per hour? At 137mph, the nose of the car is lowered by 2in and the big rear spoiler slides into the slipstream. The effect is profound. You can feel the back of the car being pressed into the road.
However, with the spoiler in place the drag is so great you’re limited to just 231mph. To go faster than that you have to stop and insert your ignition key in a slot on the floor. This lowers the whole car still further and locks the big back wing down. Now you have reduced downforce, which means you won’t be going round any corners, but you have a clean shape. And that means you can top 400kph.

That’s 370ft a second.

Power output has been finalized at 987 horses at 6000 rpm, with 922 pound-feet of torque at just 2200. The direct-injection 8.0-liter W-16 has 64 valves and four turbos. Engine drives all four wheels (with a fixed 30/70 front/rear torque split) through a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch trans. Bugatti claims 0-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds, 0-124 mph in 6.0, and 0-186 mph in 14.0. Amazing numbers. VW boss Bernd Pischetsrieder admits the Veyron will not make money, even with a $1.2 million asking price. But he insists the total cost of designing, engineering, and manufacturing the world's ultimate supercar is less than it would cost VW for a single season of Grand Prix racing. "This is our Formula 1,"

It was originally shown (as a VERY early concept) in Paris in the fall of 2000. Here's part of the article:
"No more than a year later, in autumn 2000 in Paris, the Veyron 16.4 was shown for the first time. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 with the ultimate in performance features, the 1,001 hp, 8-litre, 16-cylinder engine and its technological specifications – 1,250 Nm at 2,200 rpm, peak speed of more than 400 km/h, four turbochargers and permanent four-wheel drive – features that have remained in place to this day, celebrated its debut at the IAA in Frankfurt in September of 2001"
I remember reading about it a long time ago and then hearing nothing for a couple of years. I assumed they figured it would be too expensive and decided not to produce it. But now, here we are...

Many vehicles can beat a Veyron around the song. lots of the vehicles people right here have suggested are one-off customs that would nicely be truly puzzling to stay with and guard. there's a television teach referred to as properly equipment (on BBC us of a) that has a former F1 motive force attempt vehicles round their song. The Pagani Zonda F beat the Veyron. also different vehicles that i do not undergo in concepts. The fastest street-criminal vehicle they have examined, notwithstanding, is a Koenigsegg CCX, which may make over 1100 horsepower if tuned for and fueled by using biofuels, or truly below one thousand using U.S. properly price gas. That vehicle is likewise meant to have a swifter properly velocity and has a lot more suitable constructive preventing capacity, even with the actual incontrovertible truth that the Veyron has the fastest acceleration of any vehicle.
