aww, sweetie. welcome to womanhood!
advice: hold off on the 'pons and stick to pads til you are a little older. buy a bunch of black underwear to wear when "aunt flo is visiting". sometimes you might leak a little and you don't want to stain and ruin your pretty panties. make sure to shower everyday sometimes morning and night. keep a calendar and mark your "days" so you can figure out your cycle and plan for and predict your time of month. you do not want to be caught off guard. when it is near your time you might want to wear a thin pantyliner in case you start a day early. you don't want to get embarassed at school.

I remember when I had my first period, i was excited as you. However based on the way my own 'schedule' runs it varys from heavy and light. Usually light the first couple days then heavy the rest of the week. You don't have anything to worry about, your body will adjust and you'll be fine. By the way if you get bad cramps use a heating pad on the small of your back or across your tummy. Midol,& ibuprofen will ease the cramps as well. Also carry a pad or tampon in your purse/backpack just in case, to prevent an embarrassing situation, since the flow does tend to vary. I hope this helps you out.

Hi, you wont getfull on blood the whole time you have your period. I normally have a day or two of spotting then it starts full on but only for aboutanother two days and then it slows down and turns brownish for another couple of days. Generally all up mine go for 6-7 days. I've never been overly regular though so I just always carry a spare pair of underwear and a couple pads/tampons in a tioletries bag in my handbag, just in case.
Welcome to womanhood, its and exciting time but a little daunting too.
Hope this helps?!

When I thought I started my period, I actually only broke my hymen. I just spotted for a couple of days. Then when I actually started my period I was Shocked by how much worse it was.
My advice is to buy a LOT of pads and tampons and stash them everywhere. In the pockets of all of your coats, in your backpack, in your locker, in the bathroom, in your room, etc. And don't worry if you always feel like it's leaking and run for the ladies' room. It's better to avoid the big ugly stain than to have people make fun of you for constant bathroom trips. Eventually you'll learn the difference.

When I first got my period it was really light, but I don't remember how long it lasted. After that it usually always lasted about six days, but once I went swimming my first two days and it went aways for five days and came back for a week. Since then it's been back to normal. Sometimes it's heavier than other times. And not often, but sometimes you might miss a month. Nothing to freak out about, it just happens.

When you get cramps a hot water bottle is good. Tylenol too, always carry extra pads. You may have pig-out day or days. Exercising helps and lots of rest. Your body can change meaning you may get hips,a nice butt, and breasts. But everyone is different so however your body forms or shapes just know your a normal girl. Your an individual. You are you. B happy for who u are never apologize for that.

Things will change as it goes along. It's different for different girls. Some handle it as part of mother nature. Can't do much about it but wait it out. It's more painful for some than others. Now you are a woman for sure.

i got mine when i was 13, and like you, i was soooo excited! i was sick at the time, but it totally raised my spirits :D
when i told my mom, she gave me a gold necklace with a woman's symbol as the pendant. she said she'd given an identical one to my sister when she got hers, too.
advice: regarding tampons/pads, use whatever you feel comfortable with, just make sure to change it regularly. if you don't already do so, definitely shower daily when you're on your period. exercise is supposed to help with cramps. and if they're really bad, 2 advil will always do the trick for me. :)
congratulations!!!! :D
