How do YOU define a HERO?

Just seeking opinions and thoughts. No hard core definitions thanks:)

Someone who can do something for someone in desperate need, without asking for anything in return at all.

These powers are sometimes not only of the body but also of the mind. Heroes are typically opposed by villains.

A hero (male) or heroine (female) usually fulfills the definitions of what is considered good and noble in the originating culture. Typically the willingness to sacrifice the self for the greater good is seen as the most important defining characteristic of a hero. However, in literature, particularly in tragedy, the hero may also have serious flaws which lead to a downfall, e.g. Hamlet. Such heroes are often called tragic heroes.

Sometimes a person might achieve a high enough status to become courageous in people's minds. This often leads to a rapid growth of myths around the person(s) in question, often attributing him or her with extraordinary powers.

Some social commentators prescribe the need for heroes in times of social upheaval or national self-doubt, seeing a requirement for virtuous role models, especially for the young.[citation needed] Such myth-making may have worked better in the past: current trends may confuse heroes and their hero-worship with the cult of mere celebrity.

A hero is someone who does something extraordinary and shows bravery.
Firefighters and Police are paid to help/save people. It's their job.

I consider myself a Hero for everything i do on a daily basis.

Somebody who is selfless, caring and giving. They do not have to do spectacular things or become famous. Something as simple as doing at least one good deed for someone everyday. You could be an elderly persons hero for the day just for opening a heavy door and standing until they are inside/outside safely. nothing major, usually lots of small kindnesses which eventually add up.

I think that a hero is someone that would put their lives at risk for others. They are also at risk to save others. They don't think of themselves. They can also be someone that saves you emotionaly. As long as you look up to someone they can be your hero.

Someone who cooks, cleans, works, organized, honest. Brings home the bacon and frying it up in a pan and loves people for who they are -------- human
