what type of doctor would i see to diagnose depression and mental disablities.

Psychologist can diagnose.
Psychiatrist can diagnose and prescribe medication for it.

If you trust your regular doc, start there. If he thinks you need a specialist he'll refer you. He may think your depression is mild and feel she/he can prescribe what you need. If you don't trust your doc (then why haven't you fired him/her?), then ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist can prescribe meds and will let you know if they feel you need therapy as well. They will refer you to a therapist or psychologist.
