I recently went to a nail salon and got a full set of gel nails. Is it normal to apply a layer of acrylic before applying the gel? If so, why would gel nails be less harmful than acrylic?
Thank You
ps
(the gel looks much better than the acrylic and it seems to hold up better)

no they shouldn't be applying acrylic prior to the gel app. they are two different products. i'm guessing the nail tech hasn't perfected the product. ask the tech for the name of the gel nail product and then research it. call other salons that use the product. if u get the name find the website and it may tell u salons that use the product, then talk to one of those techs about the application.
