Okay - I just answered another question about saving oneself for marriage and I had a thought that I wanted your opinion/insight on...

My theory would be that on the average, people who wait to have sex until marriage get married at a younger age than people who have sex outside of wedlock (I have no stats on this - just a hunch, so if you have stats, please feel free to share)

So, my question is, is the divorce rate higher, lower, or no correlation for people who were virgins when married, compared to those who were not? What do you think or have you read anything about this?

in countries where virgins are given in marriage, the divorce rate is around 10%. Non-virgins are 60X more likely to divorce than virgins. I did a paper on this recently, so the numbers are stuck in my head.

Virgins have no sexual experiences to compare to, and they only know what they've experienced, so are more apt to be content than non-virgins.

Don't know about the age difference, but it sounds like good research! THX!

No idea about stats or correlation to these things. But I will give you my info and you can start comparing with others.
I lost my virginity at 17 to the man I later married at 18.
I got divorced from him at age 39.

Good luck on your theory

I don't have stats for any of these, but I saved myself for marriage, got married at the age of 24 and got divorced at the age of 39.

Go figure!! -:)

No. It is unreasonable to assume the Creator would order something impossible for the creation. True that in times past people married younger, but they also had to work sun-up to sun-down in the fields and had broods of children. There was no such thing as adolescence as we know it, just childhood and adulthood. In not so distant times past, they lived much shorter lives, as well. I know plenty of people who waited until they were married and some after they had obtained graduate degrees. It's possible.

I feel the divorce ratio is higher if you have sex with them before marriage.... Go to http://www.marriagetoday.org and ask them there... I am sure they may know the reasons and why. Hope this helps some:)

I think when a person falls for their first sex partner and marries them always in the back of their mind they are wondering what it is like to be with another person. They feel as though they missed out and usually have an affair.
