I am planning to buy a DVD Recorder and I am kinda confused. I hope someone could clerify for me the following: besides recording shows from the TV, can I copy dvds from the dvd player if I connect it to the DV-R and can I connect my video camcorder and transfer the recordings into DVDs?

You can not record an encrypted DVD. At the moment it is illegal, and your DVD Recorder as well as your player most likely have copy protection devices on them as well to keep you from doing this. At the moment you can only record unencrypted DVDs (which will probably only be the ones you or people you know make yourself), VHS Tapes, or TV Shows.

no, you can't record dvds in dvd recorder. you can only copy in PCs or laptop with dvd writer.
