I've heard that a blood test can determine pregnancy 7 days after conception. Is this true?

I don't think that I am pregnant. I just wanted to know out of curiosity.

Im a nursing student, and my maternal child text says 8-10 days after fertilization. The pregnancy test tests for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin aka hCG. This hormone begins to be produced only after the fertilized egg has implanted into your uterus. This means the hormone is both in blood and urine at the same time since your kidneys filter your blood to make urine.

Yes, this is true but you will have a hard time finding a doctor that is willing to order a blood test that early. Unless there was some pressing need why you had to know that early they are usually going to want you to wait until there is some sign of pregnancy. Most doctors like to wait until your period is a week late or they have some other rule of thumb that they use. If you had a good enough reason that would compell them to do it early you might be able to get them to do it.

Yes this is true. Actually it can be as soon as 3 days but usually 7 days is the accepted standard for a serum pregnancy test

absolutely! this is a very sensitive test and can pick up the very earliest trace of HCG - the hormone that is produced when a woman is expecting.

its possible but not sure your hormone levels need time to increase thats why it takes so long with the at home test.
