Are Jews - describing themselves as "the chosen people" no different to Nazi's viewing Aryans as the pinnacle of humanity?

It's one thing to think that you're superior but it's entirely something else when you actively try to get rid of people that you deem inferior.

Absolutely not. Look it up it's biblical. The bible said it first...or God...which ever. Jesus was from chosen people.

One thing to keep in mind...not all Jews will live up to the standard. I mean think about it, if Jesus was a Jew and the Christ, what an insult to their spirituality and standing to not recognize things prophesied.

Just being of "chosen", or "royal" or any blood line doesn't make you a better or worse person. Your actions and decisions and character define you.

The most important thing to remember is that we are all of "royal" blood line as being created in God's image, the most high king of heaven. Therefore, we all have potential to become grafted into the line of "chosen" people through our service to good in life.

I would think not, they were the first to use it any way.

It is not safe to compare it to the view of the Nazis as the supermen of humanity. In Jewish tradition the Jews are considered the chosen people because they have the mission to spread the good news of the only one good to the other people of the world, and his messages of love and fairness.

Do remember that in the beginning, they were the only ones that believed in one god, before everybody else believed in the fire, sun, etc.

I think they did a good job with the "other people" don't you think...

It is different.

Jews were/are the Chosen People, as described above. Of course, when Jesus came to Earth, he extended the "Chosen" to all the world. So, by calling Jews the Chosen People, you're just saying that they are part of humanity.

At least, that's my view. We are all God's people.

You asked 2 questions, with opposite answers. Of course there is a difference! The Jews are in fact the chosen people of God, made so by the covenant between God and Abraham, through whose loins the twelve tribes of Israel came.
It isn't like the bragging of the KKK or Nazi rhetoric or Islamunist fundamentalism. It's in the Bible. Check it out for yourself. Best of luck.

God use the terminology as the "chosen people", simple to said Christ came as a Jew, and because off it we all witness the continue of racists that exist in our world toward the Jews, and of course others ethnic groups as well.

I remember I was watching the Holocaust and a child pray to God and said, "God thank you for choosing us, but couldn't you have chosen someone else?"

Jews are the most beautiful people in our world just like you are and me as well. The real chosen people are those who are save by God, the Christ and Holy Spirit, and the Jews are save by God. The time will come when they will accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the son of God, not just a powerful prophet like St. John the baptist, but the Holy son of God.

My love for God is not on favoritism toward one race, but the love he have for me. Years ago a play on stage was done and a black guy played as Christ. At home he was getting phone threats because Christ was not Black. Was it the Jew, non-believers,
KKK, white supremacy I doubt it. It was the so-called Christians.

In according to the Christians, Christ was a white American we see it in the movies all the time. Now we know why we don't how Christ look like, because he is in all of us.

the term "chosen people" refers to the israelites, not the jews. jew was what the tribe of judah was referred to after the babylonian exile, when the tribe of judah, and the tribe of dan returned to the land of israel. the other tribes, except for a few people who had not disappeared in the diaspora with the rest of their tribes, were never called jews.
for a jew, being called "chosen people" is factual, not racist. in reality, it's just another term for being ignorant.
aryan was a term used to describe certain racial differences which never really existed, except in the minds of nazi racial theorists to justify their claim to superiority as a race of seperate people which never existed except in their own minds.

Only a mental patient would compare Jews to Nazis.

Good, and very interesting question . . .
but I believe your comparison is flawed.
Racist? Not -
Elitist? Yes -
Don't most organized religions - preach/profess to be 'THE' only group, 'chosen' for salvation? not just Jews.

No, Jews believe that Christ hasn't come yet and Jesus was a Jew

Why is race thrown into everything

2007-01-14 23:42:54 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Yes.
Because by referring themselves to the "Chosen People", that implies that non-Jews (goyim) are less valueble in God's eyes. Therefore, that tells me that Jews view goyim as inferior.
