Try this. Ad-Aware by Lavasoft, download and run a full system scan to find "bugs" and get rid of them. Then go to Tools, Internet Options, Delete Cookies then Delete Files, check box for Delete all Offline Content, wait for sandtimer thing to go away and click Okay.

Then click on Start, Run, and type in %temp%, and Okay. When the files appear in a box, delete them using Select All and Delete.

I learned these steps by calling Dell customer service and waiting for 45 minutes to get transferred to the right guy in India who could help me. These steps also helped a friend who had over 1,000 temporary files and her computer ran well after deleting them. If it won't delete one or two, don't worry, just delete the rest.

Then go to My Documents and delete any files you don't use anymore. Also delete any music files your kids have downloaded from free sites - those are like poison for your computer. Hope this works.

Have you purged your cookies and internet files lately? Made a big difference for me - much more so than just defrag.
