I am an employer who recently hired an employee who evidently has had some troubles in his life. We have direct depsit in our faciltiy and he has been refused at several banks at being able to open up a simple savings account. There has to be a good reason for someone to be refused even this the simplest of things in life to do.

In America at least, if you have ever had an account involuntarily closed (Like too many bounced checks and you didn't pay for them) The bank, when they close the account, report it to some network of sorts and you will be 'flagged' and never get another account opened at any bank--this system is networked with all the banks.

I don't know if that's what happened with him, but it's one reason for not being able to open an account.

I had a problem a long time ago. I got talked into cashing a check for someone from another state. it was only fifty dollars. But right after it happened, I moved and I took my account down to about 10 dollars. I had been living in Arizona. I moved to Calif. to go to school. Well I got to CA. and my car broke down. I was stranded, but could not go to school. I managed to get a relative to buy me some tools and went to work to get back on my feet. By the time I got around to having any money to put in a bank it was to late. I was black balled for seven years from all banks. That check had bounced and I had not responded. I had no Idea before that.

It isnt that simple, could he be a convicted felon on charges of bad check writing etc.... If your a felon and have a pattern of criminal deviance especially as it relates to electronic transfers they are not even going to be able to buy a gift card (LOL).

If your on probation, or have state rendered services similar in nature everything you do is monitored 100%, there are no BS excuses if your a felon you can try to hide it, but remember some employers do credit checks now, at least in my state, and all other sorts of checks to protect their financials interests, which I think is crap but so be it, the to a small degree, slight invasion of privacy but the only way to change it is by using your voice as a voter/tax payer but even then what hope is there

most banks are connected with chex system and if your name is on chex systems list then usually you may not have a account with them. You get your name on chex system from bouncing checks and oweing bank fees.Chex system will erase it after five years unless you can prove that you should not be on there.I do not know why this pertains to checking and savings but it does personally I think it should only be for checking .
