That makes perfect sense to me...I know it's annoying when they do it. (I had another name for them....but I like the arrogant too)lol

Nah, they're just lazy. Arrogant people wouldn't bother showing up or tell you that they cancel the appointment because to them you are not important, plus they won't apologize. Lazy people don't even wake up early or fix the tire before driving which will cause them more problems and hence they're late but surely they will apologize. You should be able to tell which one your friend is :) if you know them long enough.

I think some people just can't get it together. I have a brother who when he is invited for dinner, we say its at 3:00 if we want to eat at 4:00 and it might make it on time.
I understand you cutting the friendship off because its extremely rude to keep someone waiting no matter what you have planned. If you can't rely on someone, you don't need them in your life. They just cause un-needed aggravation.

I think it has a lot to do with priorities, laziness and depression. My sister is the same way, she was suppose to be here this am at 10, didn't show up 'till almost 11. She's not reliable at all and it's frustrating. She's not arrogant so I think it has to do with depression.

It's possible, they could either be intentionally doing it to try to show how important they are or unintentionally doing it because they assume they are important. But there are many non-arrogant people who are just very disorganized in their lives - they do it because they are just terrible at planning and organizing.

Some people have no conception of time....ten minutes is always an hour or more. I don't think they're arrogant they just don't understand that time is important.

no...i think the reason why most people are late is because everything is usually scheduled too early!
but really....
I have a friend who constantly runs late for just about everything and i think that it is a learned behavior because her mother is the same way.

lazy. or they dont want seem like a keener and be early so they try to aim to be there exactly on time, then end up being late because they cut it too short.

Well, I am always late myself and I don't consider myself "arrogant". I just can't seem to make it.
