I had an SBC dsl for a while. Nothing but trouble and they couldn't fix it. But then again, that was where I was living. Lots of trouble in that area and the phone company had no clue. I finally dumped them and went back to my cable modem.
The more expensive connections are because of a higher bandwidth that allows faster transfers.

if you are using dial up it doesn't make any difference but if you switched from dsl dial up to cable or wireless high speed you would see a huge difference. Any dial up is going t be slow no matter what they say. Accelerators and high speed are a major waste of money if you still have a dial up line.

it could be the service of the connections and sometimes they add extras to the connections which make it more expensive.
