Music Genres?

Can someone explain the difference in rock genres, cuz i have thousands of songs and my itunes and i just call them all rock but see people callin the stuff grunge and all this wierd stuff that i have no idea what the difference is.

Chill Rock/Surf Rock
Pop/Rock like fun poppy rock but still rock

Movin' Rock (rock that makes you want to move around
