The skin hanging down are basically called the "lips" of the external part of the vagina also called the libia the hymen is what we call the" cherry " the thing inside that will break when you first lose your virginity. Some people say if you use tampons it will break the hymen but I don't thnik it is true because then none of us women would be virgins if the hymen is broken- so don't worry about that!

Many people are under the impression that the hymen is located within the vagina. It is not. It’s part of the vulva, the external genital organs. It’s located outside the vagina. The hymen is a layer of tissue, just like the tissue around the opening of your vagina that partially conceals the vaginal orifice. Thos two pieces of skin hanging down could be a libia every girl has it. Just ask your mother for any questions shes gone through it too.
Take Care.

Many girls and teens tear or otherwise dilate their hymen while participating in sports like bicycling, horseback riding, gymnastics or inserting tampons, or while masturbating. A girl may not even know this has occurred, since there may be little or no blood or pain involved when this happens.

A thin, elastic membrane stretched partly or completely across the entrance of the vagina (vestibule). It has no known biological function. An intact hymen has long and erroneously been considered the hallmark of female virginity . The presence or absence of the hymen is no proof of virginity or its opposite; the hymen can be broken in the normal course of physical activities when the body is stretched strenuously, as in athletics, sports or exercises. It may be absent, small, thin and pliant, or, more rarely, tough and dense, completely blocking the vaginal entrance; it varies in size, shape and thickness from woman to woman . If it is too resistant to tearing it may require a small surgical incision, hymenotomy , or even removal, hymenectomy , before vaginal intercourse can take place .

the hymen is seperate from labia, labia are the little flaps of skin along the opening of your vagina. the labia protect your vagina from harm (like chaffing from fabric and such). these vary a lof in size shape and colour. having big labia is not uncommon at all, so don't worry.

the hymen is close by, partially covering the opening of your vagina, but not completely. the hymen is what tears, usually when you lose your virginity, and will usually bleed a little, but this varies a lot. while it's possibly to break your hymen by using tampons, it is not common and you shouldn't worry about it, it usually takes quite a bit of force (like sex) to break it.

i hope that helps!

Hymen is internal...you will know when you break it...it can be broken way before sex or using a tampon...you bleed a little so if you break it...you would likely notice.

The labia is the 'two pieces of skin hanging down...leave them where they are, okay? ;)

You really should speak to a woman about this stuff. Don't be uncomfortable...it happens to us all.

the labia is the larger pieces of skin that cover the opening.

the hymen, is a small flap of skin, covering the opening to your vagina. some women, don't have one. some women, as small childeren, have ruptured theirs. chances are, if you haven't had sex or used a tampon, that yours is still intact. it would be covering the actual opening.

hope this helps,,,, and try running a search on wikkipedia.com for the term 'hymen'. it helps. good luck!!

Your hymen is a thin membrane that's an inch or two inside the vagina. It will break (and maybe bleed a little) the first time you have sex and sometimes they break the first time you use a tampon. And yes, the hangy down things are your labia.
