LMAO! I've asked myself that very same question every time I use my toaster!

Gosh I hope someone out there in webworld can answer that. I've had at least 3 toasters over the years and had to keep them all set on the lowest setting for normal toasting. What in the world would you do with bread toasted to the high setting?? Sand wood with it??

I believe that is because toasters are used to make more than just toast. If you put a frozen pastry in it, you may need to turn it up to heat the insides up. I guess that is the only logical answer I can come up with. I hope this helps.

Because the people who make them are not sure how everyone likes their toast, waffles, etc, so they put the temps from very light to very dark so they have all the temps that people like for their food. You get to set the temperature to what you want. Whatever it is, the toaster will have it.

Maybe there is a small segment of the population that likes burned toast! Or maybe nothing works the way it's designed! Or maybe the manufactorers are a bunch of heartless, greedy people who laugh at our misfortune! Or maybe it's that way to keep us on our toes!

Some people like really dark toast. I have a friend that burns it then scraps it and then eats it that's the way he likes it.

Same reason irons have settings that would burn silk....it is meant for something other than toast. Try having a bagel for breakfast.

Maybe it is a option used only to help settle ones stomach. Either that or it is a way the power companies are screwing us all yet again. Goodnight.

A lot of people like burnt toast. I can't knock it because I love burnt hot dogs on the grill.

You could toast other stuff with a toaster that might take longer.
