I tried looking for the tax card to locate the previous owners of a house. I am just trying to find history but am having a hard time finding the site. I live in Jackson Michigan. Can anyone help with a FREE site that gives info..and directions on what to do? This is a old home and I want to find all the history that I can and all I have is the address. Thanks so much in advance~~ Jody~~

This link is for a Geneological Society for your area. They might be able to tell you something of the family that lived in your home.

Here is a link for the Michigan Historical Society...

I hope those two can, at least, get you started.

The town's tax assessor's office should have some tax history on the home. If the home pre-dates the town, you may need to start at the town and pick up history prior to what the town has at the county.

The county should have history all history of deed transfers on the home. If the home is historic and is prior to the 1800's, you may start to have trouble going backwards

Good luck
