Stunt it!

Growing bonsai is an art that make take a few tries. I recommend trying to grow a couple at one to have a success. The ultimate idea it to stunt the trees growth by manipulating its energy intake. So you have to regularly prune the leaves (once they start growing) and it's roots (so it doesnt take in too much energy) and grow it in a small pot.

Thats the general idea, but more detailed info can be found in wikipedia at this article under the technique section:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonzai_tree#Cultivation

It may help to find out what species of trees do well with bonsai techniquing. Good luck!

That's like asking a pilot how to fly a plane, but the best way is to get a good book. One is Bonsai Basics and it's on my web site
www.american-bonsai.com Also, carefully read my Bonsai Care page on the site, it will give you some very good information. If you have any more detailed questions, you're welcome to email at
wchoat@american-bonsai.com and of course, if you're ever over this way in Arkansas, come visit my bonsai nursery.

,growing a bonsai tree from scratch is a long drawn process which therefore requires patience, tender handling & regular care.,select a species that is known to make good, natural looking bonsai, sources can be own, grown from seed or cutting, dug up wilding,or nursery bought landscaping plant. This has to be pot grown in bonsai soil, for a long period till it acquires a trunk worthy of being called a bonsai, during this time branches are pruned & shaped to tree like appearance, roots are trimmed at periodical intervals like a couple of years in between training, soil is changed at this time,.when you are satisfied with its size & shape then comes the moment of triumph when it is palnted in a bonsai pot, which is a flat broad container with tiny legs to elevate it,these pots are of clay,or creramic glazed only on the outside.Roughly these are the steps taken through the long journey of bonsai growing.
