tomlinson is talented, but he is no where even close to being in the same realm as real MEN like payton and barry sanders. Those are men with real CLASS!

Barry Sanders is the best ever. The Detroit line was terrible during his tenure there. They continued to draft QB's Rodney Peete, Andre Ware, and others, and no one could make anything happen. It was simply amazing watching Lions games when Barry was playing. The hushed anticipation everytime the ball was snapped was surreal. Everyone was just waiting for Barry to get the ball. It also speaks so highly of his character that he didn't 'act a fool' when he scored, or made someone look silly. He simply handed the ball to the refs. I am not taking anything from Payton, or LT, or Jim Brown, but no one ever did more with less than Barry Sanders did. Emmitt Smith is a joke. He has been a commentator long enough to be able to graciously deflect such an erroneous statement, whenever someone calls him the best ever. This guy is still using incorrect ghetto slang in commentaries, like: mines when implying ownership, and they when he is implying someone elses ownership. example: 'They defense struggles against the pass', 'This Dallas line reminds me of mines in 1991'...

They are comparable NFL losers. LT couldn't carry Walter's shoes if you compare them on the field though.

I never saw him instigate a fight, he was always respectful to players and coaches alike. Walter Payton hit hard every play no matter which side of the ball he found himself on. He preferred to avoid the media spotlight and give credit for his performance to his teammates when asked about his accomplishments.

An outstanding athlete and a great man, Walter Payton will always be rememberd fondly by NFL fans and the citizens of Chicago.

LT I'm not so sure.

No Never. Ladainian Tomlinson (He is NOT LT, Only Lawrence Taylor was LT) is good, but not that good, He is faster than Walter Payton was, but Walter Payton was more quick than fast. Tomlinson is a good player and just as good Athleticly and probably Hall of Fame player, but Walter Payton is still Walter Payton.

Walter Payton possesses all the qualities you mentioned. LT doesn't even come close to Payton.
