A pitfall is a white ball with a red exclamation mark on it. It's just a practical joke to play on the other players or villagers. You bury it with a shovel, and it looks like an ordinary buried item shape in the ground. When you walk over it, you 'fall' into the 'pit.' Press A repeatedly to get out.

To get a pitfall, villagers will sometimes put a note on the bulletin board, saying that they've hidden a surprise in one of the acres. Furthermore, a villager might give a pitfall to you as a reward for completing an errand or simply because they're in a good mood.

That's all. A pitfall is not an NES game.

A pitfall is a crack in the ground, that if you step over, you will break it and fall into a hole. You can dig these up too.
