Leprechauns have to do with Irish legend, so they link to the whole 3 leaf clover stuff....(3-leaf-clovers aren't even a big deal in Ireland because they are everywhere!!!lol)...3 leaves on a lucky clover and three lucky wishes from a leprechaun. Have you ever heard of a four-leaf-clover being lucky? Or how about "Fourth time's a charm"? nope, three is the universal lucky number.
