Because men tend to get bored with women. He was with Britney spears for quite a while and it was "very serious" and they still broke up. He's also young and used to getting whatever he wants so instead of working on a relationship (especially in hollywood) its easier to breakup or divorce than try to work on whats really wrong. Cameron who is older was probably getting tired of the fact her man was really a little boy. He's also going on tour (or is just starting the tour) so he knew there would be plenty of women who would want what he wants (instant gratification) and cameron probably realised the same thing. Hollywood is a sad fickle friend.

Well since he did it right before his movie came out I'm guessing for some publicity, but obviously that's not the whole reason they must of had some issues but It seems like he waited to do it right before his movie came out
